Happy Friday! I have a lot of events coming up that require a dress, so I'll be posting more dresses as we move through spring and into summer. Anthropologie has always been a great place to look for dresses. When I lived in Houston I used to get there first when they opened to see if they had any dresses in my size on sale.
I'm starting to like the midi length more and more. I have a handful of dresses that could be categorized as midi length. This is one of them. The unique color is what I like most about it. I thought I would share some of the dresses that I'm considering for a few of the events that I have coming up. So here ya go! A dose of pretty dresses for ya this morning.
I've had my eye on this Frame top from Shopbop for about a month, waiting for it to go on sale.
While waiting for the Frame top to go on sale, I spotted this top on sale at Anthropologie. Much less and just as cute! They still have all sizes available. Hope y'all have a good day!
This post is a little all over the place. I started off looking for sweatshirts. What's better than coming home and changing into a cozy oversized sweatshirt? So let me show you the sweatshirts first.
Then I saw these tennis shoes and my What I Want post took a spin to the sports section.
My grandma loved shoes. I love shoes. So any time I see shoes, attention must be paid. Which leads me to the last group of items I'm going to share with you, shoes that are perfect for spring.
About a month or so ago I saw a Helmut Lang t-shirt online...for $140. I don't know about you, but the price I pay for t-shirts is usually not that steep. Helmut Lang has a talent for making staple pieces that have an edgy/cool element. I really wanted the shirt, but wasn't willing to spend that much. A few days later I decided to make it myself. When I say make it myself I mean text my Mom and ask her if she could please help me make a shirt that I saw online. I purchased a Hanes t-shirt from Shopbop that had been sitting in my shopping cart for sometime, and added "make shirt" to my to-do list the next time I went home to Austin.
Flash foward a few weeks and I'm in Austin. I tried on the Shopbop Hanes tee to make sure it fit. I ordered up a size because I don't like shirts that are skin tight. After I made sure the shirt fit I went to Michael's to get elastic. I handed $3 over to the cashier to get the elastic and then headed home. My Mom has many talents. Too many to list. She's one of those I can do anything types, but not in a snobby way. I knew she would be able to sew my shirt and that it would look amazing. We measured out the elastic to see how long it needed to be and decided which side of the shirt to attach it to. She called me back in the kitchen and told me to try it on to make sure it looked like I imagined. Of course it did, and once again she made it happen (thanks Mom!).
In summary, I now have a shirt that's edgy and cool. One that in total only cost around $35. All you need is a Hanes tee, and your choice of material for the strap. And a really good Mom/someone who can sew. You could always use a different material for the strap. They had so many different colors of ribbon available at Michael's. Use whatever color you like best. I wanted to keep the look crisp and clean for spring.
Work pants can sometimes be hard to find for females. If you've ever tried on a pair of thick, starchy, itchy polyester pants in an attempt to find your take on business casual you know what I mean. They can't be too tight, but no one wants pants that leave them without any sort of shape. A couple of years ago I figured out that Banana Republic is a place that I can always count on when I need to find a new pair of pants for the office. The first pair I purchased were sky blue. Since then I've added a pair of gray slacks, and now these to my wardrobe. I really need some khaki pants, but the lavender looked so much like spring that I couldn't resist. Banana Republic's pants are categorized by cut (Ryan, Avery, Logan...). I like the Ryan or Avery pants best because the length is shorter (this means I don't have to wear heels).
For these photos I paired my lavender pants with an Opening Ceremony top that I got on sale from Saks Fifth Avenue. This pink top is no longer on sale at Saks, but I was able to find it on sale for less than $100 at a couple other retailers. It's also available in white. I like the Peter Pan collar and the peplum hem.
I’m really loving pink and white tops right now, so here are some other options for work that are just as adorable.
Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam has been my favorite fashion blogger from the beginning. I remember seeing her pictures on Insta for the first time and thinking how pretty they were. I lived in Houston back then, and having a fashion blog of my very own was still just a dream. One I wasn't sure would ever come true. Fast forward four years and here we are. One of my style icons just released her own line of dresses, and I now have my very own fashion blog, SometimeSaturday. Dreams can be big, some dreams are much smaller. No matter what you dream of in your heart, I encourage you to continue to work towards what you want. Always believe in yourself and your abilities. You are capable and you can do it!
One of my best friends and I have been texting back and forth trying to decide which dresses to get. My Mom (who takes all the photos for SometimeSaturday) also weighed in on which dresses would look best and what she wanted to see on the blog. Next time I'm home, we are going to take pictures for the blog in the Gal Meets Glam collection dress that I purchased this morning. I can't wait for you to see it!
Until I can get home and take pictures, I wanted to show you some of the dresses so you can shop them before your size sells out. I hope you're having a great Friday and that your weekend is wonderful.
Summer will be here before we know it and so will sandal season (yay!). I love a bow as much as the next girl, so I thought I would share some of my favorite sandals with you. Which ones do you love the most?
I’ll start with some good news...I was able to take a ton of pictures for SometimeSaturday when I was in Austin last weekend. My Mom is amazing and takes such great photos! Without her I wouldn’t be able to have a fashion blog (thank you Mom, love you!).
My Mom was in Dallas in March and we had to make some time to go shopping at North Park. We went to Nordstrom first and found a bunch of things we liked. This front tie Top Shop tee was one of the items I purchased that day, along with these Boden pants. Most of the shirts that I’ve seen with a front tie for summer are a little short. I’m not looking to wear any crop tops, so I had to find some fun high rise pants to pair it with. Next thing ya know, these cute striped flare jeans showed up. They’re so comfy. I’ll be wearing them a lot this summer, so I’m sorry if you see them again. I’ll be sure to show you different ways you can wear them. Shop my exact look using the links below. One thing to note...I found the cutest pair of pants from TJ Maxx on sale for $24. Don’t worry. I listed them below. As well as the Valentino pair that I’ll be dreaming of tonight.
My Mom always tells me to smile when I take pics for the SometimeSaturday. I'm not good at it (gosh that sounds terrible), but really, I'm really not. I have to think of something funny in order to get a good smile in any of these pics.
I've shared this LPA silk blouse with you before, but when I saw that it's on sale for less than $100 I had to repost. It's from Saks, great quality, easy to wear to work. I would suggest wearing it with pants that have more of a high rise because it isn't the longest shirt I own. I've rounded up some other cute polka dot pieces that would all be perfect for spring. Most have the same black and white colors (or lack thereof). I saw this girl earlier today in all black and it looked so sharp! I need to wear more black.
One of my favorite retailers is having one of their biggest sales of the year and I couldn’t wait to share my favorite items with you. I usually don’t post until Friday but you have to be quick with this sale. Those other women are quick y’all. Too many times I’ve waited and next thing I know that pair of shoes in size 7 is sold out. Use code EVENT18 as a discount code to get 20% off your order. The discount can even be used on sale items!! Such great news! Most of the items I linked below are under $200. Shoes, dresses, tops, hopefully something for everyone.
