It isn't often that I dress casually. Aside from my evenings at home, right before bed and early Saturday morning running errands before everything is crowded and all of the parking spaces are taken. Most of my time is spent at the office, at church, and if I'm lucky, at one of my favorite restaurants here in town for date night. I know that a lot of you get to spend more time in casual outfits than I, so I want to take a small break from my usual dressy posts and share this one with you. An outfit that you can throw on in the morning, one that allows you to withstand the heat. One that's comfortable yet cute.
These two polka dot tops from Shopbop are both on sale for less than $25. I link a lot of Shopbop items because they have a great selection, good deals, amazing customer service, and offer free 3 day shipping no matter the size of your order.
Do you own any green shorts? I got these kelly green shorts from Anthropologie. The most similar pair I could find are from Brooks Brothers. Anthropologie also has several shades of green shorts available this summer. You could wear them with a navy top like I did, with white, gray, black, lavender. A pastel yellow top would also be pretty.
My lipstick is Speed Dial from Mac.
A few months ago I texted one of my friends to tell her that I needed to find a nice white dress. I sent that text after I realized that I wear my one (and only at the time) nice white dress much more often than my nice black dress. I assume for most women it's the other way around. I was always told that every one should have a LBD on hand (little black dress). I wear white dresses to church, to work. I even wore a white dress to the company's Christmas party last year. They are easy to style and I think that it creates an effortless look.
My white dress is on sale right now, click on the picture below to shop.
I kept everything simple for this outfit. I didn’t want to over accessorize. I chose small, dainty jewelry paired with my baby blue birthday shoes (that are on MAJOR sale btw).
I also found a classic red dress and a classic black dress (with long sleeves) just in case you already have a go to white dress.
This dress is similar but has a little more detail and a higher neckline.
The blue adds a nice pop of color. Here are a few other options for shoes:
There are a lot of brands that I’m not able to link in my usual way. Nicola Bathie earrings are an example. I don’t make a commission off of sales that are “unlinked.” The purpose of sharing items that can’t be “linked” is the same reason this blog was created. This fashion blog will always be around for the sole purpose of sharing the items that I love. The items that I think you will love. The items that make me feel like my most confident self.
It’s on my to do list to make a How It Works post for y’all. To try and explain the links that I use and how you can help. How this blog is a business, one that I hope will continue to grow.
Nicola Bathie just released several new flower earrings. Before this morning, all of her other styles were sold out. Including my large poppy earrings in the picture above. The new styles released this morning are available in both a large and small size. I know there are some people who prefer smaller earrings. I like the big ones. Actually, I think I like all of them : )

I found this dress in Austin earlier this summer shopping with my Mom in a store without any air conditioning. Not a joke. We walked into the store and it was a little dark, and muggy. Reallll muggy. They told us they were having some problems with the air. This was at the Domain, which is an upscale shopping center in Austin. It's normally so nice! I saw the dress but needed to try it on. After I tried it on, I then stood in line to checkout. Needless to say, I really like this dress. I like it enough to withstand the heat and I hate the heat!
It's a wrap dress with a v neckline and ruffle detail. I found it at the beginning of summer and wore it for the first time to brunch with a red hat. I felt like the outfit was missing something. I couldn't figure it out. A whole month later I finally realized that it needed a jacket. Maybe a white jacket. White would look sharp. I don't have a white jacket, so I went with hot pink.
I found a similar dress at Asos that's a little less expensive and has pink flowers instead of red.
This week was a good one. It flew by. I guess they always do. As I sit here writing this blog post I'm listening to Drake and looking at the clock every two minutes to see if it's time to announce the winner. I love that part!
This ribbed rag & bone blouse is light pink with black and white trim. Last time I checked, they still have a few available at Neiman Marcus for $38, (which is great considering the original price was $195) and it’s available at Saks in dark grey.
I found a similar sleeveless top at Anthropologie in pink and grey that’s 20% off today.
My bag is from Free People. It sold out earlier this summer, but they just released this onein its place.
My tan sandals with the bows are still available here.
Hello! I hope you're having a good week. I'm still exhausted from the wedding and can't believe that we're already half way to Friday! It sure is flying by. Alright, back to business...here's my list of What I Want:
I've been wanting to try the Marc Jacobs coconut gel highlighter but don't want to get a full size bottle. I saw this set and think that it might be the better option because it includes the highlighter as well as 4 of their other top selling items, all in smaller sizes.
After work last night I was running errands and saw a lady wearing the most gorgeous pair of shoes. I was convinced that they were Jimmy Choo. They looked so fancy. I decided to be brave and ask her for the brand. Her response: SAM. EDELMAN. I’m pretty sure I said something like “you’re kidding!” It isn’t often that I feel the need to stop someone and ask them about their shoes. Since it happened just last night I thought I would share them with you. You can find more sizes available here, and I found a bunch of colors on sale at 6pm. My favorite pair: pink satin of course.
This sweater dress is on sale right now at Revolve. They also have a similar dress in pink. I think it would be cute with booties and a belt or a coat and a big scarf later this year. Once it actually gets cold it will be harder to find dresses like this on sale.
Some of the Gal Meets Glam dresses are finally on sale and I have my eye on this lace dress in Navy from Nordstrom.
Last but not least...I'm waiting for these two items to go on sale. I love the pink and red color combination.
Anthropologie is offering an extra 25% off of sale prices, no discount code needed. To save you the trouble and time of going through item by item, I've rounded up a few of my favorites from the sale and linked them all below. Hope you have a great day!
A few of my top selling items for summer are also included in the sale:
I asked you on Instagram last week if you would rather see dresses or skirts on my fashion blog. The vote wasn't even close, dresses were the clear favorite. Lucky for me, I have always had more dresses to choose from than skirts. The ivory dress in this post with baby blue flowers was a birthday gift. I decided to style it with silver sandals, a straw hat, and a small pink purse.
I wanted to add one more color to the look, and went with a green pair of statement earrings. I thought blue would be a little too matchy matchy.
I'm sure you can tell that I love a good hat! In my mind it takes a confident person to wear a large hat because it draws attention. This hat was 1 of 4 that were made.
The Tory Burch tote that I carry almost every single day is big. Everything I could ever need fits in that tote. I love it. You never know when you're gonna need your huge hairbrush during the day.
As much as I love that tote, there are times when a huge purse isn't ideal. When you go shopping, when you go to a concert, or a football game. A heavy purse can weigh ya down. If I need to carry a small purse, I like to go with a cross body or a clutch. When I first saw this cross body online, it was sold out. They restocked it, and I placed an order hoping it would still be available for ya'll by the time this post went live. The good news is that it's still available and is less than $100. The shade of yellow works for summer and can still be carried in the fall.
The Frame jeans are on sale for $60! They're high rise, with a light wash.
I wanted these Tabitha Simmons sandals, but forgot about them as soon as I found these lookalikes at Target that are available in green, navy blue, or gold.
I bought this black top from Zara for a second date. Scratch that...fourth date. I have a terrible memory. We went to a Cody Johnson concert. I found several similar tops, and all are linked below:
