Today was one of those days where I would give anything to be able to call my grandma. I used to talk to her on the phone all the time. She would always know what to say to me. She would give me advice, and she would never sugar coat what I needed to hear. She was so strong and as beautiful as can be. Today is one of those days where I miss her with all of my heart. I'm so thankful for the time we had together.
Gram loved fashion and all things beautiful. She was always dressed to the nines, no matter what she had planned for the day. I never once saw her in sweat pants or a tshirt. Never. She would fold her laundry in heels. I remember feeling so special when I walked into a room next to her. People always noticed her, and she carried herself with grace and sophistication. She taught me many things, and made me proud to be a part of her family. I won't go into all the life lessons I learned from her (because I am already holding back the tears as I type this), but I will share one of her beauty secrets that she shared with me. Gram loved Estee Lauder. When I was a freshman in high school she took me to the mall to get my makeup done, and then she bought me all the essentials. I still remember how pretty I felt that day. It was summertime and my Dad was coaching at basketball camp. Me, Mom, and Gram stopped by the gym to show him my new look. He said I looked pretty. I remember walking through that gym like I owned the place. I wondered if this is what it feels like to be Gram. Turning heads all the time. The most important product you could ever purchase (according to Gram) is linked below. Estee Lauder Night Repair. As a teenager I was a bit confused by this. The lipstick, the eye shadow I was excited about...but Night Repair? I'm not sure why we needed to wear it. Gram looked gorgeous. Why would she need Night Repair? I used it because she told me to, and I've been using it ever since. It's the one and only skin care product I use (other than plain face soap). Let me tell you ladies, it works. Gram was right of course, and if she was still here I would thank her for the advice. I would thank her for so many things. I would tell her about my fashion blog and let her know that she was part of the inspiration behind it all. Teaching my Mom, then me everything we know when it comes to fashion and beauty. I hope she's proud of me, and I hope to one day be as great of a grandma as she was to me.
