I can count on one hand the number of vintage pieces that I own. Im no expert when it comes to vintage clothing and I'm not claiming to know it all. I just thought I would share my process of finding this vintage dress in case any of you are interested in finding a few unique pieces of your own.
I am a huge fan of Nasty Gal and love that the site started out as an Ebay shop. Just one girl selling one of a kind pieces. I watched Girl Boss the other weekend and learned even more about the company and the evolution of the brand. So interesting! If you have some time this weekend and need a new show, check it out.
Sometimes the thought of second hand clothing creeps me out. Who doesn't like a brand new pair of shoes or a shiny new pair of earrings? Never been worn. All yours. Brand spankin new. Then again, five girls at the office probably have that same JCrew top as you. There are drawbacks to both vintage pieces and new clothes. You just have to decide what's most important to you/what bothers you the least. Showing up in the same outfit as someone else or the thought that someone else owned that piece before you.
I went shopping with one of my friends here in Dallas to find a few vintage pieces. There was a seller who had a ton of little house on the prairie looking dresses. For some reason I liked them. Super cutesy, ribbons, ruffles, and bows. As girly as can be. I tried on this red dress and one other before I decided to go with the red one. I also found another tribal print dress from another seller, and will post pics of that one as well. The sizing was tricky. It's hit or miss. You find a gorgeous piece but because there is only one available you just have to hope that it fits. I guess you could get it altered if you were that in love but I was trying to find unique pieces that wouldn't break the bank. I look forward to trying again and looking for a few more vintage pieces. The problem is my friend moved to Houston : ( I'll just have to convince her to come back. For the sake of shopping. Hope y'all have a good weeekend!
